Lina S?derlund
Melina, “Lina”, Söderlund was born May 30, 1879 in Fanbyn, Medelpad, Sweden. Her family immigrated to the United States in October 1892. Circa 1899, Karl Sodergren, the owner of a Finnish-Swedish pharmacy, hired Lina as an apprentice druggist.

Back in that era the pharmacy profession was not taught in college but rather by a period of apprenticeship. After the apprenticeship a person would then be considered a druggist since they had learned the art of compounding. Lina Soderlund continued in her profession until she retired in 1943.

Lina Söderlund's nephews, Bill Soderlund, Sr., and Bill Soderlund, Jr., followed in her foot-steps and became compounding pharmacists.

The image is a portrait of Lina Söderlund that proudly hangs over the entrance of Soderlund Village Drug.
